Our Nanny Placement Process

As a mom of two from Chicago, I understand the concerns families face when searching for the best childcare — I would never refer a nanny to a family unless I would feel comfortable with her in my own home. I focus my search on providing quality instead of quantity and put a lot of emphasis on experience, personality, and individual traits.
I typically refer 2-3 candidates to start, as I am confident that my top candidates will click with you and make you feel at ease. Here’s how it works:
Get in touch
We start with your client application. Once the application is complete, we will set up a free consultation call to gather addition information about your nanny search. This is your opportunity to let us know as much as possible, your must-haves, and areas of flexibility. After the call — if it is a good fit for everyone to move forward — we will send over our terms and conditions. Once that is signed and our engagement fee is paid, the search will begin.
We get to work
We will then draft a concise job description for your approval to get the search started. We will connect with our existing applicant pool, as well as recruit and vet new applicants specifically for your family. Each applicant we introduce to you has completed a face-to-face interview, and references are verified before they meet your family. From here you’ll receive carefully curated resumes, letters of recommendation, and a short bio about each potential applicant.
Decision time
From there, we move at your pace and help schedule face-to-face interviews and “working interviews” (a highly recommended process, which usually lasts between 2-5 days). This is a great opportunity to see if your applicant fits into your family dynamics and how she interacts with your children. Once you have decided to move forward with an applicant we extend an offer, followed by a nanny-focused background check. We will share our nanny/family work agreement that outlines each parties expectations, nanny duties, and typical benefits, which is an invaluable step in securing a long-term, successful placement.
Keep in touch
We truly value the trust you have placed in Second City Nannies. This is why we are here to continue to provide support for your family long after your nanny is placed. One of the biggest thrills I get as a business owner is being able to build a unique bond with clients.
