Experienced Spanish Speaking Nanny/Household Assistant Needed – Lincoln Park, Chicago
A warm, busy family in Lincoln Park is seeking a mature, responsible, and experienced nanny to care for their two children, ages 3 and 10.
Location: Lincoln Park, Chicago
Schedule: Tuesday–Thursday, 12:00 PM–8:00 PM; Friday, 2:00 PM–8:00 PM
Hours: 30-36 hours per week (can provide extra hours on Friday)
Compensation: $32–$35 per hour, depending on experience, plus paid time off and vacation time.
One child attends The Lab School in Hyde Park, and the oldest attends Latin School so this position involves considerable driving between school, home, and the children’s various activities. The ideal candidate enjoys being on the go, is a confident driver, and is comfortable managing a busy afternoon and evening routine.
Responsibilities
- Pick up the youngest child from school at 2:10 PM and safely transport the children to and from school, extracurricular activities, and other appointments as needed.
- Coordinate and manage the children’s schedules, including swimming, ballet, piano, and other activities.
- Provide attentive, nurturing, and age-appropriate care for both children.
- Prepare simple meals and snacks for the children and family as needed, including grilling chicken, cooking rice, microwaving vegetables, and other basic meal preparation.
- Keep the children’s bedrooms, closets, and play areas organized.
- Rotate seasonal clothing and organize closets as the children grow and their needs change.
- Manage family laundry, including washing, folding, putting clothes away, and changing bed linens.
- Provide light assistance with the family’s small pet.
- Help maintain an organized household and keep the children’s belongings in order.
The family employs a professional cleaning company twice per week, so this role focuses on childcare, simple meal preparation, family laundry, children’s organization, and light household support rather than deep cleaning.
Ideal Candidate
- Must be Bilingual Spanish and English
- Has previous nanny experience caring for multiple children, ideally including preschool- and school-age children.
- Is mature, dependable, organized, proactive, and detail-oriented.
- Has a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and a reliable personal vehicle.
- Is comfortable with significant daily driving throughout Chicago, including commuting between Lincoln Park and Hyde Park.
- Is confident navigating Chicago traffic and managing school pickups and extracurricular schedules.
- Enjoys preparing simple meals and helping keep the household running smoothly.
- Is safety-conscious, patient, and able to use good judgment and discretion when working with a family.
- Can provide strong professional references.
Driving Requirements
A reliable personal vehicle and a clean driving record are required. The family will reimburse the nanny for gas used for work-related driving.
